LiveWave CEO Mottur will Testify before Congressional Subcommittee

R&D on Innovative Technologies that Support Homeland Defense and the War on Terrorism is Topic of Hearings

Newport, RI - Monday, March 11, 2002 - Peter Mottur, CEO of LiveWave, Inc., a leading technology development company providing enterprise level video solutions for the security and broadcast industries, has been invited to testify before the House of Representatives Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Research and Development to discuss products that offer a significant contribution to the Department of Defense counter-terrorism efforts.

The hearing will take place at 4pm EST on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 in Room 2118 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Mr. Mottur will discuss and demonstrate to the subcommittee LiveWave's VirtualPerimeterTM -- an advanced remote video network surveillance solution designed to monitor and protect critical assets across wide areas and in multiple locations. VirtualPerimeterTM enables enterprise level, government and military customers to efficiently monitor their assets; both live in real-time and archived for on-demand forensic analysis as needed. Remote users can gain secure access through their existing or available network infrastructure, including private wide area networks, local area networks, the Internet or wireless handheld PCs. This allows authorized personnel across multiple agencies and jurisdictions to readily monitor, evaluate and communicate with greater flexibility and to ensure timely response in the event of a suspicious incident or crisis.

"It is largely small entrepreneurial businesses that can provide the type of innovation necessary to help win the war against terrorism," said Congressman Robert E. Andrews (D-NJ), a member of the Subcommittee on Military Research and Development. "LiveWave's technologies and ingenuity have made them a leader in providing advanced video surveillance solutions needed to enhance our Country's Homeland Defense initiatives."

"Our armed forces and national security are supported at home and abroad by the technological innovation of companies such as LiveWave, who keep the United States one step ahead of terrorists," said Rhode Island Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI), a member of the Subcommittee on Military Research and Development. "It is important that the House Armed Services Committee receive frequent progress reports on technology that can contribute to the protection of our troops and, ultimately, the American people."

"The core technologies in VirtualPerimeterTM are based on LiveWave's already commercially available turn-key products that enable live broadcast TV and broadband video distribution, remote camera control and management over any network connection," said Peter Mottur, CEO of LiveWave, Inc. "With VirtualPerimeterTM, critical surveillance can be operationally based or deployed to emerging hotspots, with a wide range of cameras available for indoor, outdoor or extreme environments."

About the House Armed Services Committee
The jurisdiction of the House Armed Services Committee includes the operations of the Department of Defense (DOD) as well as the national security operations of the Department of Energy's (DOE) budget. DOD's annual budget of nearly $380 billion (requested for fiscal year 2003) affects millions of military and civilian personnel, thousands of facilities, and hundreds of agencies, departments, and commands located throughout the world. The oversight responsibilities of the House Armed Services Committee are conducted primarily within the context of the committee's consideration of the annual defense authorization bill.

Subcommittees of the House Armed Services Committee have held several "field" hearings in recent years on various subjects including military readiness, military health care, and domestic counter-terrorism preparedness. In many cases, testimony provided at these hearings directly influenced provisions contained in the annual National Defense Authorization Act.

The committee divides its responsibilities between five standing subcommittees (Military Procurement, Military Research & Development, Military Readiness, Military Installations and Facilities, and Military Personnel) and four special oversight panels (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation; Merchant Marine; Terrorism; and DOE Reorganization).

The Military Research & Development Subcommittee is chaired by U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and is comprised of 28 members of Congress. The subcommittee is responsible for annual authorization of funding for military research and development and related legislative oversight.
