CONVERGENCE SOLUTIONS FOR MARY KAY

Sales automation and e-commerce applications built on uniView’s new set-top box

DALLAS (Oct. 27, 1998) – uniView Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:UVEW) has signed an agreement with Mary Kay Inc. to design a convergence solution based on uniView’s new set-top box which incorporates the leading-edge architecture of Motorola Inc.’s (NYSE:MOT) recently unveiled "Blackbird" platform.

Under the agreement, uniView will develop customized set-top box applications to facilitate sales force automation, order entry and e-commerce for a pilot program to be tested by Mary Kay’s more than 8,500 Independent Sales Directors. The new convergence solution will be unveiled for demonstration at Mary Kay’s Leadership Conference in January 1999.

"This agreement with Mary Kay is the perfect example of the customized end-to-end solutions that we can create for an array of business applications and niche markets," said Patrick A. Custer, president and CEO of uniView Technologies Corp. "Our partnership with Motorola allows us to deliver a full array of multimedia applications, as well as highly secure e-commerce capabilities."

At the annual business conference, Mary Kay Sales Directors will interface with their company’s existing network by utilizing uniView’s advanced solutions that will simulate on-line, interactive business experiences designed for future deployment in the field. The Sales Directors will be able to conduct a myriad of interactive applications, including company communications, order processing, e-commerce transactions, sending and receiving e-mails and tracking product orders.

uniView also is exploring integration of Dallas SemiConductor’s (NYSE:DS) cryptographic iButton, a small, sturdy, stainless steel unit housing million-transistor chips bearing encrypted keys into the Mary Kay design.
