Ruel.Net Website Counter Information These webpages had their genesis in old versions of the PC-TV pages and eventually the old WebTV pages that began with the old Geocities version of the webpages using the free WEB COUNTER since 19 FEB 96. The commercial WEB COUNTER was used since 26 SEP 96. When the webpages migrated to the Ruel.Net domain website, the commercial counter went to Ruel.Net and the free counter was kept with the older home pages. SITE METER took over the count at Ruel.Net on 17 OCT 01. The plain HTML version, and not the javascript version, of SITE METER is being used for consistency that is similar to what the plain HTML WEB COUNTER had. What is very good about WEB COUNTER and SITE METER is that the count increases with each visitor and not necessarily with each loading of a webpage. So reloading webpages won't necessarily inflate the count -- a new visitor would increase the count. If you want to count pageviews, take the counter number and multiply that number several times and you can get an idea about how high the pageview number could be. At minimum, you could assume each visitor may visit a webpage twice in the same session although it is not uncommon for a visitor to visit multiple webpages at Ruel.Net over an extended period of time. If anything, the counter provides good information about the number of people who have visited this website throughout the years. -ruel |
